Baby and Child Health
If you have any queries regarding your child’s health please contact Health visiting the team on 01871 602266. An appointment can be made to see you at the surgery or at home, whichever is more appropriate. Regular development checks are advised.

Breast Screening
This service is provided by the Scottish Breast Screening Service. A mobile unit is brought to the island every 3 years and invitations for breast screening by mammography are sent to all women in the 50-70 age group registered with the practice.

Women under the age of 50 will not be screened in line with national health policy. When the mobile unit is due in our area this will be advertised in the local paper. Women in the 50-70 age group who miss the screening programme and would like to be seen on a trip to the mainland please contact the Practice Nurse for advice. Women over 70 are encouraged to attend for screening every three years. Please contact the Practice Nurse for further information regarding referral.

Non-NHS Services
Some services are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability
